About
I have been photographing for over a decade, mostly in black and white, and mostly in Iran, India and Ontario. The work runs to five collections, named for how a photograph is seen rather than what the camera was pointed at. Most of it is available as prints.
The setar
I play the setar, a Persian instrument with four strings and a very quiet voice. I studied first with Fariba Hedayati, then under the guidance of Hossein Alizadeh, and I now study with Massoud Shaari. In Persian classical music the teaching line is the credential, so that sequence is the thing worth stating.
I also teach, online and in person, at any level.
The other half of the week
I work in information technology and security. I hold a master’s degree in Information Security from Tehran University and a cybersecurity certificate from Mohawk College, and I am a co-founder of Cyber Badger, an IT and cybersecurity practice.
It is a long way from a darkroom, but the habit is the same one: look closely at something, for longer than is comfortable, until it gives up what it is actually doing.
Getting in touch
About a print, a size that is not listed, a licence, a commission, or a setar lesson. I read everything that arrives.
